 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  Ayamelum Residents Lament Years of Neglect Over Dilapidated Road


Residents of Ayamelum Local Government Area have cried out over the deplorable condition of the only major road linking their communities to Anambra East, describing it as a clear sign of government neglect.


According to them, the road has remained one of the worst in Anambra East, yet it serves as the only lifeline to Ayamelum. The people say the situation has made transportation of goods, especially farm produce, extremely difficult, causing economic hardship and isolating many villages during the rainy season.


“We are tired of empty promises,” one resident lamented. “This road tells our story — a story of neglect and suffering. Each year, we hear about development funds, but Ayamelum is always forgotten.”


They also questioned the state government over the recently publicized Common Service Fund, wondering why their area continues to be excluded.


The people of Ayamelum are calling on the Anambra State Government to urgently rehabilitate the road, noting that Ayamelum deserves the same attention and development given to other parts of the state.
