 FIDA SEEKS PARTNERSHIP WITH WAPA AHEAD OF ANNUAL GENERAL CONFERENCE 


The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Lagos Branch, led by its Chairperson, Barrister Mrs. Abimbola Oladigba-Jack has paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) to seek collaboration and support ahead of the Association’s forthcoming Annual General Conference (AGC).


During the visit, which took place at the Ministry’s Conference Room in Alausa, Ikeja, Mrs. Oladigba-Jack highlighted FIDA’s numerous humanitarian and advocacy initiatives, including legal assistance to vulnerable groups, community outreach programmes, and free law mobile clinics designed to promote access to justice for women and children.


In her response, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. (Mrs.) Bolaji Cecilia Dada commended FIDA Lagos for its unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and the protection of women’s rights. She expressed the Ministry’s readiness to partner with the Association, noting that the forthcoming three-day Annual General Conference, which will feature a health walk, conference sessions, and a dinner, aligns perfectly with WAPA’s mandate to promote women’s empowerment and inclusion.


Hon. Dada, who is also expected to deliver the keynote address at the conference, assured FIDA of her full support towards the success of the event.


Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Rianat Ajibike Onigbanjo pledged the Ministry’s commitment to collaborating with FIDA Lagos, particularly in initiatives that advance women’s rights and access to justice across the state.
