 Abuja High Court orders INEC to deregister ADC, Accord Party, others Justice Peter Odo Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately deregister the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Accord Party, and others from participating in the 2027 general elections over alleged constitutional breaches. Justice Lifu issued the order on Monday, June 15, while delivering judgment in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/2637/2026, and instituted by the Incorporated Trustees of the National Forum of Former Legislators against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and several political parties, including the ADC, Action Alliance, APP, Accord Party, and Zenith Labour Party. The plaintiffs argued that the affected political parties failed to meet constitutional requirements relating to electoral spread and performance.  NERC RELEASES 28 BILLION NAIRA TO DISCOs FOR METERING BAND "A & B" FREE


The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission NERC has approved the release of twenty eight billion naira from the Meter acquisition fund to Electricity Distribution Companies to Meter all outstanding unmetered band 'A' and 'B' customers 


The funds will be allocated in proportion to the respective contributions of the distribution companies under tranche B of the intervention 


In an order released by NERC, all the Meters to be procured and installed under the Meter acquisition fund framework shall be provided free to band 'A'  and 'B' tariff customers 


NERC directs all distribution companies to complete the installation of the Meters under the tranche B of the Meter acquisition fund by 31 December 2025


The intervention under the Meter acquisition fund is part of the commission's deliberate efforts to close the metering gap in the country and it will run concurrently with other interventions including presidential metering initiative
