 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. ...As IGP Egbetokun Commiserates with Family, PSC


The Nigeria Police Force regrettably announces the passing of retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Parry Benjamin Osemwegie Osayande, CFR, OFR, NPM, mni, who died in Benin City on Sunday, 28th September, 2025, a day before his 89th birthday.


DIG Osayande was a distinguished officer who served the Force and the nation meritoriously in various capacities, including as Commissioner of Police in several states, Deputy Inspector-General of Police, and later as Chairman of the Police Service Commission between 2008 and 2013. He also chaired key presidential committees on police reform, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism, accountability, and courage in service.


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbtokun, Ph.D, NPM, on behalf of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, commiserates with the family, the Police Service Commission, and associates of the late DIG Osayande, and pays tribute to his invaluable contributions to policing and internal security in Nigeria.


The Nigeria Police Force prays for the peaceful repose of his soul and strength for his family to bear this irreparable loss. Funeral and memorial arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.
