 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. The Nigeria Police Force regrettably announces the passing of retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Parry Benjamin Osemwegie Osayande, CFR, OFR, NPM, mni, who died in Benin City on Sunday, 28th September, 2025, a day before his 89th birthday.


DIG Osayande was a distinguished officer who served the Force and the nation meritoriously in various capacities, including as Commissioner of Police in several states, Deputy Inspector-General of Police, and later as Chairman of the Police Service Commission between 2008 and 2013. He also chaired key presidential committees on police reform, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism, accountability, and courage in service.


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbtokun, Ph.D, NPM, on behalf of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, commiserates with the family, the Police Service Commission, and associates of the late DIG Osayande, and pays tribute to his invaluable contributions to policing and internal security in Nigeria.


The Nigeria Police Force prays for the peaceful repose of his soul and strength for his family to bear this irreparable loss. Funeral and memorial arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.
