 AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week. Rudy Youngblood arrested in Texas over alleged assault

Actor Rudy Youngblood, best known for his leading role in Mel Gibson’s 2006 Oscar-nominated film Apocalypto, has been arrested in Belton, Texas, the Bell County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

Youngblood was taken into custody early Tuesday on a warrant for alleged assault and is being held at Bell County Jail on a $20,000 bond. Authorities have not released full details of the allegations, though reports indicate the arrest involves an incident with a family or household member.

Youngblood gained fame portraying Jaguar Paw in Apocalypto. He was recently cast as the lead in the period drama La Matador, playing Nico Cortez, a tortured painter and romantic interest of the titular female bullfighter. The film is currently in pre-production. In addition to La Matador, Youngblood has five other projects in various stages of production, including Carry You Home, Cooling Effect, Intercept, The Blue Phoenix, and The Moment. His past credits also include The Haunting of Hell Home Mine, Dandelion Season, Attrition, Wind Walkers, and Beatdown.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
