 Aguiyi Orders Investigation into Trans Nkisi Mining Site Over Environmental Compliance By Amaka Isikala The Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi, has ordered an investigation into the environmental compliance status of a mining site at Trans Nkisi, Onitsha, following concerns over extensive land degradation and its possible contribution to the growing gully erosion threatening the community. The directive followed an inspection visit to the site on August 1, during which the commissioner was accompanied by leaders of the Trans Nkisi community. The visit formed part of the ministry's ongoing assessment of environmentally sensitive locations across the state in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo's Fifth Pillar of Development, Environment and Urban Regeneration.  Alexandra Businessman and Community Leader Shot Dead


Tragic news has rocked Alexandra this morning following the fatal shooting of well-known businessman and Alexandra Parliament President, Vincent “Vinny” Ndima, who was gunned down in the early hours of the morning.


According to reports, Ndima was travelling with his friend, Thabo Mahane, when their vehicle came under heavy gunfire at the corner of 13th Avenue and Joe Nhlanhla Street. Eyewitnesses say the pair were ambushed by heavily armed men, with nearly 40 spent cartridges recovered from the scene. Mahane, who sustained serious injuries, reportedly returned fire before the gunmen fled. Ndima was declared dead at the scene, while Mahane remains in critical condition in hospital.


Vinny was widely admired in Alexandra for his community work, known for providing food parcels to the needy, assisting families with funeral costs, and helping renovate homes in partnership with local councillors.


Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspects and are appealing to the public for any information that could help bring the perpetrators to justice.
