  ‘The View’ Announces Whoopi Goldberg Hiatus — Here’s Why She’s Stepping Away Whoopi Goldberg is temporarily stepping away from *The View* — but fans of the longtime moderator don’t need to worry about her leaving the show for good. Goldberg, 70, will be absent from most episodes of the ABC daytime talk show over the next two weeks while she films an upcoming movie for Netflix. The actress and comedian revealed the news during an appearance on *The View’s* companion podcast, *Behind the Table*, alongside executive producer Brian Teta. Teta explained that Goldberg will be away for the next two weeks but will continue appearing on the show on Mondays because filming for the movie is taking place nearby. ### **Whoopi Is Heading Back to the Movies** Goldberg’s temporary absence comes as she begins production on *Women Like Us*, an upcoming Netflix comedy produced by Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground Productions.  Alexandra Businessman and Community Leader Shot Dead


Tragic news has rocked Alexandra this morning following the fatal shooting of well-known businessman and Alexandra Parliament President, Vincent “Vinny” Ndima, who was gunned down in the early hours of the morning.


According to reports, Ndima was travelling with his friend, Thabo Mahane, when their vehicle came under heavy gunfire at the corner of 13th Avenue and Joe Nhlanhla Street. Eyewitnesses say the pair were ambushed by heavily armed men, with nearly 40 spent cartridges recovered from the scene. Mahane, who sustained serious injuries, reportedly returned fire before the gunmen fled. Ndima was declared dead at the scene, while Mahane remains in critical condition in hospital.


Vinny was widely admired in Alexandra for his community work, known for providing food parcels to the needy, assisting families with funeral costs, and helping renovate homes in partnership with local councillors.


Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspects and are appealing to the public for any information that could help bring the perpetrators to justice.
