CJN Bans Lawyers, Court Officials to Stop Using ‘Barrister’ as Official Title The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has directed lawyers, court officials and other legal personnel to discontinue the use of “Barrister” as a prefix to their names in all official engagements at the Supreme Court. The directive was contained in a memorandum dated July 13, 2026, and signed by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Kabir Akanbi. The circular, which was addressed to litigation staff, legal practitioners, court registrars and lawyers, stated that the directive took immediate effect and was aimed at upholding professional standards within the apex court.  Four Limpopo Police Officers Arrested for House Robbery in Mpumalanga


Four SAPS members from Limpopo, three male officers and one female officer aged between 29 and 41, were arrested in Lydenburg, Mpumalanga, along with a civilian in connection with a house robbery that took place in Mashishing on Thursday night, 9 October 2025.


According to preliminary reports, the victims, all Ethiopian nationals, were asleep when they were ambushed by the suspects.


The police officers have since been suspended in line with the SAPS Discipline Regulations of 2016, and the matter is being dealt with departmentally.


All five suspects remain in custody and are expected to appear before the Mashishing Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 13 October 2025, facing charges of house robbery.
