 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo.  96-year-old voter turned back over missing PVC in Agulu


A 96-year-old woman, Elizabeth Onike, was left in tears on Saturday at Polling Unit 019, Umudim Akasi village, Agulu, Anaocha LGA, after officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) refused her vote for not presenting her Permanent Voter Card (PVC).


Onike, who arrived early to cast her ballot, pleaded with officials and showed hospital and other identification cards, explaining she had voted at the same polling unit for years but could not locate her PVC this time.


“I have been voting here for years. This is where I vote. I don’t know where I kept the card,” she said, visibly distressed as neighbours tried to console her.
