AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk.  A sweet senior couple just said “I do” in the most perfect place imaginable: the YMCA swimming pool where they first met!

Barbara (78) and Ron (81) from Clearwater, Florida, locked eyes five years ago during water aerobics class. What started with smiles and friendly chatter between exercises turned into coffee dates, then love. Last Valentine’s Day, Ron proposed right there in the shallow end with a waterproof ring.

This weekend, they returned to that very same pool to get married. Waist-deep in water, surrounded by 60 guests in swimsuits and leis, their classmates cheering, and their original instructor officiating, they exchanged vows while gently floating with pool noodles.

The bride glowed in a white swimsuit with a lace cover-up and waterproof veil; the groom looked dapper in swim trunks and a bow tie.

“We met in the water, fell in love in the water, so we got married in the water,” Barbara said with a big smile.

The YMCA happily opened the pool for the celebration, and everyone partied with splashes and poolside cake afterward.

Now the newlyweds are off on a seniors’ cruise, already excited for more water aerobics together.

Love really does come full circle! 🏊‍♀️💕🏊‍♂️
