 Nigerian military jet crashes in Niger A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet has reportedly crashed near Karabonde, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, on Saturday evening, December 6. Unconfirmed reports from local sources clam that the two pilots onboard survived the incident after successfully ejecting from the aircraft. A Niger state-based digital television network, Lapai TV, announced the tragic incident  in a post on its official Facebook account on Saturday evening, December 6. The post, accompanied by a one-minute video, read, “Two Nigerian Air Force Pilots Reportedly Survive Alpha Jet Crash Close to Karabonde, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State”. It was reported that the two pilots successfully ejected before the aircraft went down. Meanwhile, the Nigerian military has yet to make any official statement concerning about the crash as of the time of filing this report.

 ANAMBRA STATE POLICE COMMAND WELCOMES THE INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE: DECORATES THE ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER OF POLICE PROMOTED TO DEPUTY COMMISSIONER OF POLICE


The Anambra State Police Command, on Monday, 3rd November 2025, had the honour of receiving the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, who was on an official visit to witness the signing of the Peace Accord among flag bearers of the political parties participating in the forthcoming governorship election in the State.


The IGP, who was ably represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Intelligence Department, DIG Benjamin Okolo, fdc and the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in Charge of the Operations Department, DIG Yakubu Kwazhi, mni, was warmly received on arrival by the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc minps PhD. The delegation was also received by the Supervising Officer of the Command and Assistant Inspector-General of Police, in charge of Zone 13, Ukpo-Dunukofia, AIG Abayomi Oladipo Peter, alongside members of the Command Management Team, senior officers and other ranks who turned out in their numbers to accord the visiting team a befitting welcome.


In his address to officers and men of the Command, the IGP commended the leadership of CP Orutugu for his proactive security strategies, robust inter-agency collaboration and continuous engagement with stakeholders across the State. He urged officers to remain disciplined, vigilant and apolitical, reaffirming the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ensuring a peaceful, credible and secure electoral process in the forthcoming governorship election.


As part of the day’s activities, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Intelligence Department, DIG Benjamin Okolo, in company of AIG Abayomi Oladipo Peter, decorated the Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Emmanuel Ogbuanya, who was recently elevated to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police. The promotion was in recognition of his outstanding service record, dedication and professionalism in the discharge of his duties.


In his goodwill message, the IGP congratulated the newly promoted officer and charged him to see his elevation as a call to greater responsibility, urging him to continue upholding the core values of integrity, dedication, and excellence for which the Nigeria Police Force is known.


In separate remarks, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 13 Ukpo-Dunukofia, AIG Abayomi Oladipo Peter, and the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, noted that the visit of the IGP would further boost the morale of officers and men of the Command, enhancing their motivation for improved security service delivery during and after the elections.


During his vote of thanks, DCP Emmanuel Ogbuanya expressed deep appreciation to the Inspector General of Police for the honour and privilege of his promotion, pledging renewed commitment to the vision and mission of the Force.


Also in attendance were the Commissioner of Police in Charge of the Anambra Governorship Election, CP Abayomi Shogunle, senior officers of the Command, and other distinguished guests.
