AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week.  BENUE GROOM DEFIES ACCIDENT TO MARRY HIS BRIDE

27th November, 2025

In Benue State, a moving tale of resilience and devotion is warming hearts across the region. It’s the story of Mr. Terseer Jeremiah a man whose path to the altar became a powerful reminder that true love doesn’t collapse under pressure.

Just days before his traditional wedding, Terseer was travelling to Naka in Gwer-West to complete essential rites and bring home his bride-to-be. But fate intervened. A sudden, serious accident left him injured and confined to a wheelchair, the kind of moment that could shatter the strongest plans.

But not this one.

Rather than postpone the ceremony, Terseer chose courage. He showed up on his wedding day seated in a wheelchair, determined to honour his commitment and celebrate the woman he loves. His strength stirred emotions among guests, many of whom described the moment as a testament to divine grace and unwavering faith.

For Terseer and his bride, the wedding became more than a celebration, it became a victory. A reminder that love endures, even when life delivers its hardest blows.

As the couple begins their new journey, prayers continue to pour in for Terseer’s full recovery, along with blessings for a joyful and enduring marriage.

A beautiful union, sealed with courage, faith, and love that refused to give up.
