Democrats call on Prince Andrew to testify in Jeffrey Epstein case

Democrats on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee are urging former Prince Andrew to testify about his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Committee members want Andrew Mountbatten Windsor to provide details about what he knows regarding Epstein and the crimes he committed. Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (D-Va.) said that appearing before the committee could allow Andrew to clear his name while helping advance justice for Epstein’s victims. Other committee Democrats, including Reps. Raja Krishnamoorthi (Ill.) and Stephen Lynch (Mass.) expressed support for the potential subpoena of the former prince, though they acknowledged enforcement could be challenging.

Andrew has faced intense scrutiny in the U.K., particularly after renewed allegations by Epstein victim Virginia Roberts Giuffre, whose posthumous memoir was recently released. Following the controversy, King Charles III removed Andrew’s royal titles and evicted him from his residence, officially referring to him as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor rather than prince.

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) emphasized that Andrew could face legal consequences. “Thanks to the courageous survivors of Epstein’s abuse, justice is coming to Andrew,” Khanna said, adding that anyone involved in abusing children alongside Epstein will be held accountable.

The push for Andrew’s testimony comes amid broader pressure to release government files on Epstein. Some Republicans, alongside Democrats, have advocated for transparency regarding documents tied to Epstein’s activities and connections, fueling continued scrutiny of the former prince and his role in the scandal.
