 President Trump awarded inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup draw in Washington  Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President presented the honour onstage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, saying Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”. “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said, after Trump took the stage to accept the trophy, a medal and certificate. “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”   FIFA says the prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.  Accepting the award, Trump called it “one of the great honours of my life”, before claiming to have “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly.  FIFA to introduce new peace prize at World Cup draw in Washington 

FIFA has announced the creation of a new peace prize, set to be awarded at the World Cup draw on Dec. 5 in Washington.

The FIFA Peace Prize will honor “exceptional actions for peace,” the governing body said Wednesday. “In an increasingly unsettled and divided world, it’s fundamental to recognize the outstanding contribution of those who work hard to end conflicts and bring people together in a spirit of peace,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said. The award will be presented annually by Infantino “on behalf of fans from all around the world.”

The announcement comes amid recent connections between FIFA and former President Donald Trump, who was not selected for the Nobel Peace Prize last month despite lobbying efforts. Infantino and Trump were both scheduled to speak at an unrelated event in Miami on Wednesday. Additionally, FIFA recently appointed Trump’s daughter Ivanka to the board of a $100 million education initiative, partially funded by 2026 World Cup ticket sales.
