 AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week. Flights to Philadelphia International grounded after bomb threat, FAA says


Flights at Philadelphia International Airport were halted on Friday following a bomb threat, according to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. The agency did not provide additional information regarding the nature of the threat.

The airport did not immediately issue a comment. Earlier this month, several other U.S. airports faced similar bomb threat reports that were resolved without incident. Operations at Reagan Washington National Airport were briefly suspended in early November after a threat was reported against a United Airlines plane, which the FBI later confirmed posed no danger. On the same day, a Delta flight at LaGuardia International Airport was evacuated before departure due to a reported bomb threat.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
