 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali.  Governor Yusuf Reiterates Commitment to Justice and Development at CREED Awards Night


Bags Governor of the year on Insfrastructure and Good Governance

‎Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to justice, infrastructural development, and good governance during the Annual Dinner and Awards Night organized by CREED at Tropical Galeria, Kano.

‎This was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Friday.

‎The Governor, who was represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Kano State, Barr. Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude, SAN, commended the organizers for promoting meaningful engagement on the relationship between law, leadership, and societal development.

‎In his remarks, the Governor emphasized the ongoing justice reforms initiated by his administration, particularly the review of prolonged detentions in custodial centres, which uncovered troubling cases of inmates held for years without trial, case files, or legal representation. 

‎He noted that swift actions were taken to trace missing files, issue legal advice, and release individuals where justice so required.

‎Governor Yusuf also highlighted the progress recorded in infrastructural development across the state, including road rehabilitation, improvement of water supply systems, upgrades of schools and health facilities, and ongoing urban renewal projects aimed at creating a safer, cleaner, and better-organized Kano.

‎The Governor’s representative attended the event in the company of prominent government officials, including Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, Commissioner for Water Resources; Arc. Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu, Commissioner for Housing Development; Engr. Marwan Ahmad, Commissioner for Works; Dr. Kabiru Sani Yakubu, Managing Director of KASCO; Arc. Hauwa Tudunwada, Managing Director of KNUPDA; and Engr. Abba Kankarofi, Deputy Managing Director of KARMA. His Highness, the Emir of Gaya, Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, was also in attendance.

‎Governor Yusuf commended members of the legal profession for their continuous efforts in defending justice and upholding the rule of law. He further congratulated the award recipients for their remarkable contributions to the progress of society.


The Governor bags the CREED Magazine Governor of the year 2025 on Insfrastructure abd Good Governance for his efforts to unban renewal in meeting the global standard of a mega city for Kano.
