AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. HEROIC NAVY SAILOR GIVES HIS OWN LIFE TO RESCUE TWO CHILDREN STRUGGLING IN ROUGH WATERS. (PHOTO).

Heroic navy sailor gives his own life to rescue two children struggling in rough waters.

Master-at-arms first class, Jeffery Diaz, showed the world what a true service man looks like when he made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of others.

47-year-old Jeremy Diaz was a full-time Navy sailor stationed at the Pacific Missle Range Facility in Barking Sands, Hawaii.

On Saturday, November 22nd, Jeffrey was enjoying a day on the beach at Waiapua'a Bay when he noticed two children who were struggling in the high surf.

Without a moment of hesitation, Jeffrey disregarded his own safety and plunged head first into the rough waters.

Thanks to the selfless efforts of Jeffrey, both children made it safely to shore. Sadly, Jeffrey did not. Jeffery began experiencing trouble while in the water and slipped from veiw in the blink of an eye.

Emergency personnel would pull Jeffrey from the water a short time later. Life saving measures were administered on scene. Jeffrey was rushed to Kaua'i Veterans Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Rest in Peace Jeffrey.  You truly were an American Hero.
