 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  Jessica Simpson marks eight years sober

Singer, actress, and reality TV star Jessica Simpson is marking eight years of sobriety this weekend.

On Instagram Saturday, Simpson, 45, reflected on the milestone, writing that eight years ago she made the decision to confront and let go of the self-sabotaging habits in her life. She said choosing sobriety allowed her to fully embrace what she describes as God’s purpose for her life, noting that alcohol had previously clouded her intuition and blocked her dreams.

“Both fear and faith are something that we feel and may not see,” Simpson wrote. “I’m so happy I chose faith over fear. It was not in the fight that I found my strength, it was in the surrender.” She is also the author of the 2020 memoir Open Book.
