Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists.  Jonathan Comeback Posters Surface at PDP Convention in Ibadan

Supporters advocating for former President Goodluck Jonathan's return to active politics made their presence felt on Saturday at the ongoing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national elective convention in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The enthusiasts were observed waving flags bearing Jonathan's portrait, with Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed prominently featured as his proposed running mate for a potential 2027 presidential bid.

Speculation has intensified in recent months about Jonathan's possible comeback to contest the 2027 presidential election under the PDP banner. While the former president has remained silent on the matter, close associates have reportedly confirmed his willingness to throw his hat into the ring.

The development comes a day after posters of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, the convention's host, were spotted at the venue on Friday.

The PDP convention, now in its second day, continues amid factional tensions and high-stakes leadership elections, with Jonathan's potential candidacy adding another layer of intrigue to the party's internal dynamics.
