 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.  Lakers’ Deandre Ayton out with knee injury, team confident in backups

Los Angeles Lakers center Deandre Ayton left Sunday’s game against the Utah Jazz with a right knee contusion and did not return in the second half of the 108-106 win in Salt Lake City. Ayton, who recorded two points and three rebounds, was injured in the first quarter and exited midway through the second.

“He got hit on his leg in the first half and was limping through it,” Lakers coach J.J. Redick said. “Then he couldn’t go in the second half.” Redick did not comment on the severity of the injury but expressed confidence in the team’s depth. Backup center Jaxson Hayes started the second half, contributing five points and four rebounds in 18 minutes. Luka Doncic led the Lakers with 33 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists, while Austin Reaves added 22 points and 10 rebounds. LeBron James recorded 17 points, eight assists, and six rebounds, and Maxi Kleber chipped in two points and three rebounds off the bench.

The Lakers (12-4) will next face the Los Angeles Chippers (5-12) in an NBA Cup group stage game at 11 p.m. EST Tuesday in Los Angeles.
