Miss Universe Organization (MUO) President Raul Rocha has released an official statement addressing the growing concerns and speculation surrounding recent events within the pageant community.
PRESS RELEASE:
It is impossible to express in words, or even through a few videos, everything that happens behind the scenes within the Miss Universe Organization, which has a presence in 133 countries and a global event that brings together all our representatives from each of those countries. Each one of them is already a winner in their own right, they are our voices, and they are the women with whom we work and will continue working. A 20-day concentration before a pageant involves everything from the logistical and diplomatic protocol for receiving all the contestants, to their transportation and accommodations, safeguarding inventories of wardrobe, shoes, jewelry, accessories, and more, all items they will be using during those 20 days, and transporting them to the different cities where events will take place. Living together for 20 days, 24 hours a day, inevitably leads to countless situations in which discipline, responsibility, professionalism, sisterhood, a spirit of service, and many other values must prevail, especially loyalty toward all other competitors. These, among other factors, are what the discipline committee takes into account, along with a private interview and later the judging panel's evaluations. It is only logical to understand that it is impossible to determine who will represent the organization globally by observing and scoring just three hours of a show. Three hours onstage do not reflect all the qualities that, from my perspective with clear objectivity, the woman who represents us before the world must poSsess.
The only truth that stands is that no judge resigned. The musician, whom nobody knew, turned out to be an opportunist, and anyone with good judgment can see how an unknown person tried to latch onto the fame of Miss Universe to gain followers. Honestly, I feel pity and compassion for someone I was asked to help for his so-called "concert for peace" and to whom I extended my trust, someone who could never even look me in the eye because he always hides behind dark glasses, even at night. I hope the truth about who he really is and about his story comes to light soon, that justice is served, and we will also take legal action. I encourage everyone to remove him from their social media and show the world that opportunists who exploit others have no place here, especially those who fabricate Al images that damage others' reputations just to benefit themselves and feed their ego and insecurity. Regarding the other two judges, whom I respect, I emphasize that they did not resign. Only God, they, and I know this. I prefer not to elaborate further out of respect for them and for the organization. The entire circus surrounding their supposed resignation was created falsely, once again, by the pseudo-musician for his own benefit, knowing that with his poor and limited career, he would not receive media attention otherwise. I demanded that he stop involving third parties who have never claimed to have resigned because that is not the case, and the particular circumstances of each situation have nothing to do with this unfortunate musician's intentions.
Lastly, I want to highlight that Miss Universe is a 100% private organization.It is not a public institution. We do not receive public funds or sponsorships from any public entity. Judges do not receive any payment for participating, and Miss Universe Organization covers all expenses incurred by those who honor us with their presence. All Miss Universe contestants participating in the 20-day concentration are not asked to pay for their expenses throughout this period. Logistics, top-tier hotels, food and beverages, transportation, activities in different cities, medical care, and much more are completely free for all participants. When I speak with them, each one tells me that experiencing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that Miss Universe gives them is the best experience they have ever had. They now form part of the great Miss Universe family around the world and already have a sister in every corner of the globe. Nothing and no one will stop the global phenomenon that is Miss Universe, a phenomenon heard and felt around the world. The results speak for themselves, and we are only a few days in. We wil break every record. And to those who criticized and judged us, I want to cite the Bible: Luke 14:11 – "For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.".
