  A manhunt is underway for man who shot a Granite City Police Officer multiple times. Officers in Granite City, Illinois, responded to a call regarding a unwanted subject near the 2000 block of Johnson Road at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, December 5th. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the suspect. The suspect opened fire on officers before fleeing the scene.  Unfortunately, one officer was struck multiple times. The officer was rushed to a St. Louis University Hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.  A massive manhunt is now underway to locate the suspect. Authorities warn the public that the man is considered armed and dangerous.  Night False Alarm Created Panic At GGC Maiduguri; Government Assures High Security Protection 


A false alarm raised late Monday night by students of Government Girls College Maiduguri, Borno State caused widespread panic after claims circulated that unknown gunmen had invaded the school’s hostel. 


Borno state government  and security operatives swiftly intervened, confirming that no gunmen were present and that the alarm was unfounded.


Commissioner of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Lawan Abba Wakilbe, confirmed that the situation was a false alarm and urged students, parents, and the public to remain calm, assuring that strengthened security measures have now been put in place across the school.


Similarly, the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, ASP Kenneth Nahum Daso, corroborated the Commissioner’s statement, emphasizing that officers have been deployed to the school premises to maintain peace and prevent a recurrence.
