Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.  NIS Confirms Deadly Attack on Bakin Ruwa Checkpoint in Kebbi


The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) @nigimmigration has confirmed that unidentified gunmen attacked its Bakin Ruwa Checkpoint, under the Tuga Border Patrol Formation in #Kebbi State, on Thursday night.


According to a statement issued by the Service Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, the assault occurred around 10:00 p.m., resulting in the deaths of three immigration personnel. Operational assets and facilities at the checkpoint were also destroyed during the incident.


The Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, has directed an immediate tactical response.


 Measures include the deployment of reinforcements, intensified joint operations with sister security agencies, enhanced intelligence gathering along the Tuga axis, and increased patrols in the area.


The NIS called on members of the public to remain calm and continue providing useful information to security agencies as efforts to secure the border corridor are stepped up.
