The Miss France Organization has announced it will suspend sending a representative to Miss Universe 2026. The decision stems from ongoing concerns regarding the transparency of the selection process and organizational management.

”THE MISS FRANCE ORGANIZATION AWAITS EXPLANATIONS

For its part, the Miss France organization followed this whole affair closely. At the time of the altercation between Miss Mexico and her Thai host, the French representative Eve Gilles stood up to leave the room in support of Fatima Bosch, before finally sitting back down, confused amidst the commotion. From a distance, Frédéric Gilbert, president of the Miss France organization, said he was on ”absolute vigilance“: ”We told her, ’If there‘s the slightest thing going on, we’ll make the decision to withdraw you from the competition and you‘ll go home.’“

Regarding the opaque selection process, the French delegation confirms having been aware of the ”Beyond The Crown“ program prior to the competition, without clearly understanding that this committee was in charge of choosing the Top 30. The Miss France organization, like the other national committees, is now awaiting answers. ”We all pay a license fee to send someone, so they‘ll have to be held accountable. We can’t just sweep this all under the rug. A blunder can happen. But this series of mishaps, they‘ll have to explain themselves.“

Because it renews its Miss Universe license every year, for a hefty sum—three to four times that of Miss World, which is reportedly $10,000 per participating country—the Miss France organization reserves the right not to renew its participation in the competition next year. ”When we sign, beyond the financial implications, it’s for the image, the respect for the brand and its use. If there are no clear explanations or more precise guidelines, we can seriously question whether to continue. And I know we‘re not the only ones; other countries are asking themselves questions.“
