 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8.  President Sheinbaum files charges following groping incident on Mexican street

Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum announced Wednesday that she is pressing charges against a man who groped her on a Mexico City street Tuesday. The incident, captured on video and widely shared online, prompted Sheinbaum to call for stronger protections against sexual harassment across all 32 Mexican states. She emphasized that the attack highlights a broader problem faced by women nationwide.

In a video post, Sheinbaum explained that she wrestled with whether to press charges but ultimately decided it was necessary. “Many women have to deal with this, and if this can happen to the president, what can we expect for all the young women in our country?” she said. Sheinbaum also condemned the resharing of the video, calling it unethical and a potential violation of laws against the dissemination of sexual content without consent. The president said she plans to launch a campaign to educate men on respecting women’s rights, describing the issue as one of dignity and emphasizing the importance of defending all Mexican women.
