AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm.  Red fox rescued after being trapped by pipe around its neck in Pennsylvania

A red fox spotted wandering with a plastic drainage pipe around its neck in Pennsylvania has been safely rescued and released back into the wild.

The fox, seen in October in Broomall, Delaware County, had eluded rescuers for weeks. Animal rescue group Good Boy Dog Recovery finally captured the fox Saturday evening. Initially nicknamed Sly, the fox was discovered to be female and renamed Lady Sly.

She was taken to the Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center, where staff successfully removed the pipe without sedation, describing her as a “very cooperative patient.” Lady Sly was vaccinated for rabies and distemper before being released back into her natural habitat later that same day.
