"This is about women's rights. I'm so sorry we need to do something bigger. We have respect for everyone but this is not how things can be. To trash another girl is beyond disrespectful & it's nothing I as a person can stand behind. That's why I'm taking my call and I'm going." - Miss Universe, Victoria Kjær Theilvig.

EARLIER REPORT:

The reigning Miss Universe, Victoria Kjær Theilvig, reportedly walked out of a Miss Universe 2025 sashing ceremony (orientation event) in Bangkok, Thailand, due to alleged mistreatment of the contestants by an organizer.
Reports from social media and pageant news sources on November 4, 2025, suggest a high level of drama at the event. It is claimed that the national director for Miss Universe Thailand, Nawat Itsaragrisil, publicly called out and "insulted" some contestants, including the representative from Mexico, for not adequately promoting the pageant on social media.
Following the alleged public humiliation, several contestants were seen crying, and some, along with Victoria Kjær Theilvig, reportedly left the event. The situation has caused significant controversy and discussion within the pageant community.
Victoria Kjær Theilvig was crowned Miss Universe 2024 in November 2024 and is expected to pass on her crown at the Miss Universe 2025 finale, which is scheduled to take place in Thailand this November.
