 Two trains collide in Slovakia, multiple passengers injured

Two trains collided in Slovakia on Sunday evening when one ran into the rear of the other, leaving dozens of passengers injured, authorities reported.

Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok, speaking at the scene, said that most of the injuries were minor, though 11 people were taken to hospitals for treatment. No fatalities were reported.

The accident took place on the route between Bratislava and Pezinok, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) northeast of the capital. Police confirmed on social media that there was no head-on collision or derailment.

A passenger described the impact as a loud “bang,” according to local news outlet Aktuality.sk. This crash marks Slovakia’s second train accident in the past month; an October 13 collision in eastern Slovakia left 91 people injured.
