 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.    U.S to tag alleged Maduro-led cartel as terrorist group


The US will designate Venezuela’s Cartel de los Soles—which it alleges is run by President Nicolás Maduro—as a foreign terrorist organisation, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Sunday.


Rubio accused the cartel and allied groups of fueling hemispheric violence and drug trafficking. The move comes amid a US military buildup in the Caribbean, which Caracas claims is aimed at overthrowing Maduro.
