 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  WHO Warns of Surging Mpox Spread Across Africa and Beyond


The World Health Organisation (WHO) has issued a strong warning about the escalating transmission of mpox, with 17 African nations reporting active cases over the past six weeks. 


WHO in a statement said from September 14 to October 19, the agency documented 2,862 confirmed infections and 17 deaths.


Formerly known as monkeypox, the virus has now emerged for the first time in Malaysia, Namibia, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain, marking its expanding footprint outside Africa.


In its latest assessment, the WHO calls for intensified monitoring, broader vaccine distribution, and robust infection prevention measures to halt the virus's entrenchment. 


As mpox advances quietly yet persistently, international leaders face a critical juncture: effective containment demands a swift, unified response.
