 AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week.  Anthony Joshua Involves in Road Crash, Two Allegedly Die


Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that World heavyweight Boxing Star Anthony Joshua has been involved in a road crash along Lagos Abeokuta Expressway this Monday along the Lagos Ibadan Expressway in Makun area of Ogun State


The statement says the vehicle conveying  Joshua, a Lexus Jeep with the number plate, KRD 850 HN, reportedly collided with a stationary truck under circumstances that are still being investigated.


It was reported that Anthony Joshua sustained minor injuries while two people were feared dead.


The statement adds that  the accident occurred just before Danco Filling Station in Makun, before the Sagamu Interchange inward Ibadan axis of the road.


Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi also states that Anthony Joshua and other injured persons have been rushed to the hospital for prompt medical intervention.


The command promises to give updates on the matter.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
