AUTHORITIES IN MARYLAND ARE SEARCHING FOR A HEARTLESS MAN WHO DOUSED A DOG IN GASOLINE AND LIT IT ON FIRE. (PHOTO).

Authorities in Maryland are searching for a heartless man who doused a dog in gasoline and lit it on fire.

First responders in Prince George County received a series of confusing calls on Monday, December 1st, at around 6:30 p.m.

Some callers relayed an awful incident they had witnessed. The callers reported seeing a man douse a dog in gasoline before setting it on fire.  These calls were interspersed with others reporting a brush fire in the same area.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they were startled to learn both were factual.  Once on scene, firefighters found a pitbull on fire along with the surrounding brush.

Firefighters determined the dog had run into the brush after being set ablaze, causing the brush fire.

After extinguishing the flames, the first responders were able to access the dog's condition. The pitbull, which weighed around 50 lbs, sadly did not survive the incident.

The Prince George County Arson Task Force is investigating the incident . No arrests have been made at this point. Please call local authorities if you know the man who did this.
