 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali.  GRASSROOTS SPORTS DEVELOPMENT: LAGOS VETERAN SWIMMERS HAIL DG OF LSSC


The Lagos State Old Swimmers Association (LOSA) recently recognised the Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, with an award for his contribution and support towards sports development and the noble profession in the state.


The award was presented to him for the sterling performances of the young swimmers after clinching 19 gold medals at the 9th edition of the National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.


For the first time in the history of the U-15 developmental multi-sport event, Team Lagos emerged as the overall champions, defeating the perennial winners, Delta State. Swimming contributed significantly to the state medal haul.


With the success recorded at the national developmental Games, Lagos cemented its name as the most vibrant state in terms of talent identification and development, providing an enabling environment as well as encouraging the technical personnel to excel in their duties.


According to the organisers, the objective of the event was to celebrate the spirit of excellence and collaboration that is driving swimming development in Lagos State. The Awards ceremony was also to celebrate the remarkable achievements of past administrators, coaches and swimmers.


The Association promised to work with and support the Lagos State Swimming Association to bring back the glory days of swimming to Lagos.

Innoson Gives Out Brand New IVM G5 and Salary For Life To The Man Who Prophesied About His Vehicle Manufacturing In 1979.  Last Saturday, July 22nd the Chairman of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd, Chief Dr Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma OFR gave out a brand new Innoson IVM G5 to Mr Ikechukwu Osakwe popularly known as Osabros who prophesied to him in 1979 that he would be the first man in Africa to manufacture vehicles and sell to different African countries.  The prophecy was given at the period the then Innocent Chukwuma could not boast of a car, talk less of manufacturing one.
