 President Trump awarded inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup draw in Washington  Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President presented the honour onstage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, saying Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”. “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said, after Trump took the stage to accept the trophy, a medal and certificate. “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”   FIFA says the prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.  Accepting the award, Trump called it “one of the great honours of my life”, before claiming to have “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly.  Gunmen Abduct Catholic Priest From Zaria Diocese Residence

 

According to Sahara Reporters, the Catholic Diocese of Zaria in Kaduna State has confirmed the abduction of Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ezema from his residence at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Rumi. The incident reportedly occurred late on Tuesday night, alarming parishioners and the wider community.

 

In a statement released on Wednesday, signed by the Diocesan Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Isek Augustine, the Diocese expressed deep regret over the incident and called for public support in securing the priest’s safe return.

 

“We regret to officially announce the abduction of our Priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ezema, from his residence at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Rumi, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, around 11:30 pm,” the statement said.

 

The Diocese urged people of goodwill to pray for the safe and quick release of the priest and others in similar situations, invoking the intercession of Our Lady, the Mother of all Priests.

 

While details about the abductors remain unclear, the Diocese emphasized the importance of collective prayers and support for Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ezema’s safety.
