 Nigerian military jet crashes in Niger A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet has reportedly crashed near Karabonde, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, on Saturday evening, December 6. Unconfirmed reports from local sources clam that the two pilots onboard survived the incident after successfully ejecting from the aircraft. A Niger state-based digital television network, Lapai TV, announced the tragic incident  in a post on its official Facebook account on Saturday evening, December 6. The post, accompanied by a one-minute video, read, “Two Nigerian Air Force Pilots Reportedly Survive Alpha Jet Crash Close to Karabonde, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State”. It was reported that the two pilots successfully ejected before the aircraft went down. Meanwhile, the Nigerian military has yet to make any official statement concerning about the crash as of the time of filing this report.

 NIGERIA POLICE FORCE UNVEILS OFFICIAL MASCOT, LOGO, AND THEME FOR THE 15TH BIENNIAL POLICE GAMES – ASABA 2026


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, has officially unveiled the mascot, logo, and theme for the 15th Biennial Nigeria Police Games, scheduled to hold in Asaba, Delta State, in February 2026.


The unveiling, conducted on Wednesday, 3rd December 2025, at the Peacekeeping Conference Centre, Force Headquarters, Abuja, marked a major step forward in the preparations for the forthcoming Games and signified the renewed drive and commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to a successful hosting.


In his remarks, the IGP described the ceremony as a moment of pride for the Force, noting that it symbolizes the growing momentum toward the Asaba 2026 Police Games. He reiterated the vital role of sports in enhancing physical fitness, discipline, teamwork and morale among officers, while also strengthening community engagement. According to him, the Biennial Games have long stood as a unifying platform that reinforces professionalism, excellence and shared identity across the Force.


The IGP expressed profound appreciation to the Delta State Government, led by His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, for accepting to host the 2026 edition. He acknowledged the impressive level of preparedness already demonstrated by the State and extended commendation to the Delta Sports Commission and the Force Sports Planning Committee under the leadership of AIG Fom Pam Joseph for their dedication and hard work toward ensuring seamless organisation.


Unveiling the mascot and logo, the IGP highlighted the symbolic essence of the mascot, which embodies the values of the Nigeria Police Force — courage that protects, unity that binds, fitness that strengthens, and excellence that elevates service both on duty and on the field of play. He thereafter presented the Theme and Slogan for the Games:


• Theme: Beyond the Badge; Excellence in Action

• Slogan: Discipline, Dignity and Dedication


The unveiling ceremony was graced by eminent personalities, including His Excellency, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Kingsley Emu; and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, represented by Mr. Ibrahim Abdulkadir. Also in attendance were the President of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Dr. Elizabeth Egbetokun; Chairman, National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko; Directors of Sports from sister security agencies; members of the Force Management Team, senior police officers and other distinguished guests.


While assuring officers, athletes, stakeholders and the public of the Force’s unwavering commitment, the Inspector-General expressed confidence that the event will deliver an outstanding and memorable sporting experience that will further promote unity, professionalism, and the enduring spirit of service within the Nigeria Police Force.
