A teenage young man suddenly got up and ran out of his best friend's house, with no shoes on. He was never seen alive again.  Traevion Pirtle, 18, was found deceased in Indianapolis at 8:45 p.m. on March 13th. He had been missing since March 7th. Traevion's friends say that on Saturday, March 7th, Traevion inexplicably ran out of the house with no shoes on. The young man gave no explanation. He just ran from the home on the 3600 block of Cedar Pine Lane. He left his cell phone and his car at the home and vanished. For the next week, friends and family desperately searched for Traevion. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, today joined female officers of the Nigeria Police Force to declare open the “Nigeria Police Women @ 70” celebrations, an event honouring seven decades of exceptional courage, service, resilience, and leadership by women in the Force.

In his address, the IGP paid glowing tribute to generations of female police officers who, since the enlistment of the first set of women in 1955, have remained at the forefront of professionalism and dedication to national security. He noted that their courage, integrity, and operational excellence have not only strengthened policing in Nigeria but have also deepened public trust and advanced the NPF’s commitment to inclusive and people-centered law enforcement.

The IGP highlighted several gender-responsive reforms championed under his leadership, including expanded career pathways, enhanced welfare, targeted leadership development, and the strengthening of the Gender Unit. He emphasized that women are now playing pivotal roles across crucial policing functions such as forensic science, cybercrime and digital investigations, counter-terrorism, peacekeeping operations, and community safety initiatives, reflecting a modern, inclusive, and globally aligned policing institution.

The ceremony was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including the Special Guest of Honour, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, CON, the Chief of Army Staff represented by Major General I.M.
