 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  Okpuno community is a strategic area in Awka capital city and deserves proper development- Bishop Alexander Ibezim 


The Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Alexander Ibezim, has called on the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, to urgently pay attention to the development needs of Okpuno community in Awka South Local Government Area.


Bishop Ibezim made the passionate appeal during the dedication ceremony of St. John’s Anglican Church, Okpuno today 13th Dec 2025.


According to the bishop, Okpuno is a strategic community within Awka South and deserves adequate infrastructural development, particularly good road networks. He noted that the area has continued to attract visitors and investors who are purchasing land and building houses, but warned that the absence of good roads could discourage continued settlement.


“Visitors are buying lands and building houses, but if there is no good road, they will soon start deserting the community,” the bishop said.


He therefore urged the state government to give urgent attention to the roads in Okpuno, stressing that improved infrastructure would enable residents to carry out their daily activities without difficulty and further enhance the community’s growth and development.
