 AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week.  On Christmas Day, during the NFL game between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium (streamed on Netflix), Snoop Dogg headlined a festive halftime performance filled with holiday spirit and energetic music.

The rapper shared family-friendly versions of his classic songs like “Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang” and “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” while adding seasonal cheer. The show began with Martha Stewart reading a fun, reimagined version of “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.”


Highlights included special guest appearances and collaborations across different music styles, featuring country artist Lainey Wilson, the group HUNTR/X (EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami), and opera singer Andrea Bocelli with his son Matteo performing holiday favorites like “White Christmas.”


With more than 100 performers on stage—including dancers, singers, violinists, and an orchestra dressed in bright, festive colors—the production brought together hip-hop, country, pop, and classical music in a joyful celebration.Many viewers enjoyed the creative mix, calling it one of the most memorable and uplifting halftime shows in recent years.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
