 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. Pittsburgh bakers make 83,427 cookies in world record attempt

A Pittsburgh-area Facebook community coordinated a world record attempt that resulted in the baking of 83,427 cookies for a massive cookie exchange.

The event, organized by The Wedding Cookie Table Community Facebook page, brought together 583 bakers working in 67 teams from 14 U.S. states and New Zealand. At the Washington County Fairgrounds, the teams displayed all 83,427 cookies, ultimately exchanging 73,835 of them.

The cookies were Christmas-themed, featuring designs like snowballs, Santa Claus, and reindeer. The creator of the community described the event as a festive and fun celebration of the holiday season. Evidence from the attempt will be submitted to Guinness World Records in hopes of establishing a new category for the largest Christmas cookie exchange.
