 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. Police ACP slumps and dies in Abakaliki.


The police Community in Ebonyi State has been thrown into mourning following the death of an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Ogbon-Inu Taiwo Popoola.


The deceased an officer in charge of the State Intelligence Department (SID), reportedly slumped during a management meeting at the Command Headquarters Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, around 11 o'clock in the morning


According to the police source as disclosed to NTA, he suddenly developed breathing difficulties and began gasping for breath during the meeting, prompting his being rushed to the hospital for medical attention.


Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations officer in the state, DSP Joshua Ukandu, said he had crisis during a meeting and was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately, could not survive it.


Meanwhile, his remains have been deposited at the morgue of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital (AE-FUTHA 1) in Abakaliki.
