 TROOPS OF OPERATION WHIRL STROKE ARREST HIGH PROFILE CRIMINAL IN BENUE COMMUNITY Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE arrested a high-profile suspected criminal during an intelligence-driven operation in Agasha Village of Guma Local Government Area, Benue State, following a report of an attack on a local resident. The operation was launched on 13 March 2026 after security agencies received credible information regarding an attack on Mr Shaapera Seeta Michael in Agasha Village. Acting swiftly on the report, troops of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Intervention Battalion XI deployed under Operation WHIRL STROKE mobilised immediately to the affected area to track down the suspect responsible for the assault. Upon arrival, the troops cordoned the area to prevent the suspect from escaping while conducting a targeted search operation aimed at identifying and apprehending the alleged attacker.  SEVERAL INJURED IN BENUE ROAD CRASH NEAR TYEKU

Several persons were injured on Thursday following a road traffic accident near Tyeku on the Tse-Kucha–Gboko road in Benue State.


Eyewitnesses said the crash occurred in the afternoon when a vehicle reportedly veered off the road and overturned, triggering an immediate response from residents and passers-by who rushed to rescue the victims.


Photos shared on social media showed the damaged vehicle lying on its side in a ditch, while community members were seen assisting the injured and administering first aid at the scene.


No death was reported as of the time of filing this report, though some of the victims were said to have sustained serious injuries and were rushed to nearby health facilities for treatment.


The cause of the accident and the exact number of injured persons could not be immediately confirmed, as authorities were yet to issue an official statement.


The incident has renewed concerns over road safety on the busy Tse-Kucha–Gboko axis, particularly during the festive season when traffic volume is usually high.
