Sheikh Gumi Prays For Exposure Of Terror Sponsors, Sympathisers In Nigeria

Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has called on Allah to expose and punish those who sponsor or sympathise with terrorism in Nigeria.

In a prayer shared on Facebook on Thursday, Gumi urged divine wrath on anyone benefiting from terrorism, supporting terrorists, or rejoicing in acts of violence.

He stated:

"My prayer today: Ya Allah! Whoever initiated or is behind this insecurity and bloodshed in Nigeria, whether foreign or local, or gains materially or otherwise, or even takes pleasure in the killing of people, or willingly does nothing to stop it, may You expose them by Your divine power and pour Your anger upon them, punishing them immediately without harming the innocent."

The controversial cleric, often criticised on social media for alleged closeness to bandits, has repeatedly denied such claims. He emphasises his readiness to assist authorities in ending banditry, including through dialogue when necessary.

In November, Gumi explained that insurgency persists largely because uneducated and unemployed youths are easily recruited and exploited by enemies of the state.
