 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean.  SHETTIMA, ALIA, DIGNITARIES GRACE AKUME'S SON'S WEDDING IN BENUE

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, on Sunday hosted a grand wedding ceremony for his son, Samuel Aondoakura, in Benue State, drawing top political figures from across the country.


The high-profile event came just days after Akume welcomed his new wife, Zaynab Ngohemba, into his family home.


Vice President Kashim Shettima attended the ceremony as the representative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, underscoring the importance of the occasion.


The Vice President’s presence was confirmed in a statement issued via X by his spokesman and Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Mr Stanley Nkwocha.


“Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has arrived in Benue State to grace the wedding reception of the son of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume,” Nkwocha said.

He explained that the wedding joined Samuel Aondoakura Akume and Deborah Ershima, daughter of Engineer Msula Atoga, in holy matrimony.


According to Nkwocha, the Vice President was received by Senator Akume and the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, alongside other prominent dignitaries.


The ceremony attracted a large gathering of political leaders, traditional rulers and well-wishers, turning the wedding into a major social and political event in the state.
