Kansas driver’s license law puts some transgender residents in ID limbo A new Kansas law has effectively invalidated the driver’s licenses and other government-issued documents of transgender residents, leaving many in legal and personal limbo. Senate Bill 244, which went into effect immediately after the legislature overrode Gov. Laura Kelly’s veto, requires that the gender listed on a driver’s license align with the state’s binary definition of male and female. The law also directs the state registrar to “correct” birth certificates that do not match these definitions. Unlike similar restrictions in other states, Kansas’ law retroactively invalidates previously issued documents. Legal advocates warn that the law threatens the privacy and safety of transgender residents, forcing them to disclose their gender identity in situations ranging from employment applications to renting property or opening bank accounts. Wait till 2027 if you’re eyeing VP Shettima’s seat- MURIC to Dachomo


The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has asked Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, Regional Leader of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), to wait till 2027 if he wants to be the Vice President of Nigeria.


MURIC Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, said this in a statement he released to respond to the comments made by Dachomo on Channels TV on Monday, December 1. Dachomo in the interview said that the fact that both the President and Vice President seats are occupied by Muslims proves that there is a ‘’genocide’ against Christians in Nigeria and that the only way this can be corrected is for Shettima to vacate his office for a Christian to take over.


Responding to his comment,  MURIC, a faith-based Islamic human rights organisation, accused the cleric of being obsessed with “hyperbolic articulation”.


‎‎”A new twist was thrown into the Christian genocide debate yesterday, Monday, 1st December, 2025 when the Regional Leader of the Church of Christ in Nations, Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, exploded on national television alleging that the Muslim-Muslim ticket is equal to Christian genocide.


MURIC finds this outburst emotive, explosive and kindergarten. It is articulated religiousity cum religious masturbation. It also amounts to a denial of the principles of democracy and the due process painstakingly taken by Nigerians from the electioneering campaigns down to the elections.


It is equally a declaration of lack of faith in the long judicial exercise that followed the election through the appeal court up to the Supreme Court. It is subjudice. How can anyone suggest the removal of the vice president who emerged from a free, fair and credible election? If Dachomo wants to be the vice president of Nigeria, he must follow the well-known democratic process. He must wait for 2027.


Has our reverend gone paranoia? He sees Muslim-Muslim ticket in his sprawling mansion, in his wardrobe, in television studios and, of course, in the mythical Christian genocide. That is why he believes it amounts to Christian genocide for the Nigerian president and his vice to be Muslims.”
