 AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week.  A$AP Rocky made his musical guest debut on Saturday Night Live on January 17, 2026, performing songs from his new album Don't Be Dumb, which was released the day before on January 16. 

The episode was hosted by Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard. Rocky delivered high-energy performances, starting with the lead single "Punk Rocky," followed by a medley of "Helicopter" and the title track "Don't Be Dumb."


The 15-track album features collaborations with artists including Tyler, The Creator, Doechii, Gorillaz, Jon Batiste, will .I am, and more. The cover art was designed by filmmaker Tim Burton, adding a unique cinematic touch to the project.


This appearance marked an exciting moment for fans, showcasing fresh music from Rocky's first full-length release in eight years. The performances highlighted his signature style and helped launch the new era of the album! 🚀

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
