Ndiowu community in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State has formally elected Chief Chibuzo Okekeifi as Ezediọramma II of Ndiowu, bringing to an end an eleven-year vacancy on the community’s revered royal throne.

The historic development marks a major milestone in Ndiowu’s traditional history, coming more than a decade after the peaceful transition of the late monarch, Ezediọramma I, Late Eze O. Udeh.

Community leaders and indigenes have described the installation as a powerful symbol of restored dignity, unity, and renewed communal pride.

Reacting to the development, prominent Ndiowu son and community leader, Chief Dr. Joseph Chimezie Onuorah, popularly known as Deme Deme Na Orumba, hailed the emergence of Ezediọramma II as a defining turning point for Ndiowu, both at home and across the diaspora.

According to him, the ascension of the new monarch represents more than the filling of a vacant stool, describing it as “a fulfilment of destiny and a unifying milestone that rekindles hope, restores dignity, and strengthens the collective spirit of our people.”

Onuorah also commended the State Government, under the leadership of Prof Chukwuma Soludo for providing enabling environment that ensured a peaceful, transparent, and widely accepted traditional ruler selection process.

He described the Ndiowu Eze election as a model worthy of emulation by other communities across the state.

“I also commend Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Tony Collins Nwabunne, as well as Chairman of the Council Area, Rt. Capt. Casmir Nwafor, whose leadership, wisdom and administrative guidance were credited with contributing to the credibility and calm that characterized the process,” he stated.

Reaffirming his commitment to the progress of Ndiowu, Onuorah pledged the unwavering support of Ndiowu stakeholders and indigenes to the vision and aspirations of Ezediọramma II.

He expressed confidence that the new reign would focus on repositioning Ndiowu as a model community through deliberate investments in human capital development, youth empowerment, peace-building and sustainable growth.

Community members have since expressed optimism that the installation of Ezediọramma II would strengthen Ndiowu’s traditional institution, deepen communal harmony, and usher in period of peace and inclusive development across the town and its villages.
