 ‎Anambra First Lady, Dr Nonye Soludo welcomes New Year babies with gifts and cash

‎The wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr Nonye Soludo, has welcomed the first set of “New Year” babies of 2026 born in various hospitals across the state with various gifts and cash awards to celebrate their birth.

‎Soludo, in her yearly tradition of celebrating babies born on New Year’s Day, continued her visitation across various hospitals on Friday, where she was presented with the first set of babies.

‎The governor’s wife, who is also the founder of ‘Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo’, spent some exciting moments with the babies and their mothers and was pleased to hear exciting testimonies from mothers who did antenatal care and had their delivery (including C-Section births) all at zero costs.

‎The free delivery was courtesy of the state government’s three-year-old free antenatal and delivery services in public hospitals in Anambra State.

‎In a joyful moment during the visit, the First Lady thanked God for the gift of the children and prayed for their continued growth, expressing hope that the children would grow in peace, grace, and favour to become the pride of the state.

‎To celebrate the historic birth, Dr Soludo presented the newborns and their mothers with essential gifts, including hampers, milk, groundnut oil, sanitary items, as well as cash, explaining that the gesture was aimed at supporting the mother’s nutrition and overall well-being during the nursing period.

‎Describing the birth as a joyful and symbolic beginning for the new year, she noted that the birth reflects the steady improvement and functionality of Anambra State’s primary healthcare system and encouraged expectant and nursing mothers across the state to have confidence in government-owned health facilities across the state and to make proper use of them.
