 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. ATHENS, PA, WOMAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AFTER DOMESTIC ALTERCATION INVOLVING KNIFE. (PHOTO).

 Athens, PA, woman taken into custody after domestic altercation involving knife. 

   Athens woman was arrested Monday after a domestic dispute in which police say a man was cut on the hand with a knife.

Donan Rae Sherman, 40, faces charges of two counts of second-degree simple assault and one count of first-degree terroristic threats, according to an Athens Township Police Department affidavit.

Police responded around 1:20 a.m. Monday, to a home in Athens Township after receiving a report of an ongoing domestic incident. The male victim told officers that Sherman had threatened to kill him while holding a kitchen knife and had poked him in the hand, causing a small cut. He declined medical treatment.

Sherman told police the dispute began over a cell phone the man refused to return. She admitted to making threatening statements and holding a knife, but said it was in self-defense, claiming the man had previously been violent and had tried to take the knife from her, which led to the injury.

Sherman was taken into custody and is being held at the Bradford County Correctional Facility on $75,000 bail. Her preliminary court hearing is scheduled for Feb. 10.
