 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali.  Avatar: Fire and Ash leads North American box office for fifth consecutive weekend


Avatar: Fire and Ash has maintained its grip on the North American box office, claiming the top spot for a fifth consecutive weekend with $13.3 million in ticket sales from Friday through Sunday.

Following in second place is 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, which brought in $13 million, while Zootopia 2 took third with $8.8 million. The Housemaid earned $8.5 million for fourth place, and Marty Supreme rounds out the top five with $5.5 million.

Other notable performers include Primate at sixth with $5 million, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring at seventh with $3.5 million, Greenland 2 at eighth with $3.4 million, Anaconda at ninth with $3.2 million, and The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants in tenth with $2.3 million.
