 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  AVM ESEN EFANGA TAKES OVER AS 11TH AOC, AIR TRAINING COMMAND, KADUNA


In furtherance of the Headquarters Nigerian Air Force (NAF) redeployment of senior officers aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness, in line with the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke’s Command Philosophy of building a highly motivated, professional, and mission-ready force, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Esen Paul Efanga has officially taken over as the 11th Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Air Training Command (ATC). The formal handover ceremony took place on Wednesday, 7 January 2026, at the Command Headquarters in Kaduna.


The colourful ceremony was well attended by senior officers, airmen, airwomen, and civilian staff of the Command. It featured the traditional handing and taking over of the Command flag, as well as the signing of handover notes between the outgoing and incoming AOCs, symbolising the formal transfer of authority and responsibility. The ceremony reinforced continuity of leadership within the Command and underscored training as the backbone of operational readiness, discipline, and airpower effectiveness.


In his maiden address, AVM Efanga expressed profound appreciation to the CAS for the confidence reposed in him and paid tribute to his predecessor for his exemplary leadership and the solid foundation laid during his tenure. He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening training standards, innovation, and realism to ensure NAF personnel remain fully prepared to meet the demands of ongoing counter-insurgency, counter-banditry, and counter-terrorism operations across all theatres. In his farewell remarks, AVM Ahmed Yusuf Dari thanked officers, airmen, airwomen, and civilian staff for their professionalism and unwavering support, and pledged to further enhance training frameworks that directly support operational effectiveness and mission success in his new appointment at Headquarters Nigerian Air Force as the Chief of Training.
