 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  FCT police arraigns eleven over murder of Arise TV reporter, Somto Maduagwu and her security guard


The FCT Police Command today, January 21, arraigned eleven (11) suspects linked to the m#rder of Ms. Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu, Esq., an Anchor, Reporter, and Producer with ARISE News, and Mr. Barnabas Danlami, a security guard,  k!lled during a robbery incident at Unique Apartments, Katampe Extension, Mabushi, Abuja, on 29th September 2025.


A statement from SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson of the command oday January 21, said the the suspects identified as Shamsu Hassan, ⁠Sani Sirajo, ⁠Hassan Isah, ⁠Abubakar Alkamu, ⁠Abdulsalam Saleh, ⁠Suleiman Badamasi, ⁠Zaharadeen Mohammed, ⁠Musa Umar (aka “Small”), ⁠Mashkur Jamil, ⁠Suleiman Sani and Abubakar Usman, were arraigned on a nine (9) count charge including criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, and murder. 


She said the matter has been adjourned to February 2026 for further proceedings.
